We collect non-perishable food items for the local food pantry, the NEPA Bread Basket located across the street from our church on First Avenue in the Grunick Education Building of the Queen of Angels Parish. Those who are need may visit the food bank every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We take up a special collection for Thanksgiving; donations are accepted during the month of November until the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Every year during the month of November, our Byzantine Religion students at La Salle Academy conduct a coat drive. They have collected hundreds of gently used coats that were given directly to people who need them through the Angel's Attic of the United Neighborhood Centers and through the school nurses of our local public schools.
The Eastern Catholic Light is the official publication of the Eparchy of Passaic, our home diocese. Subscriptions are available for $12 annually.
Holy Ghost Church participates in the MidValley Ministerium, a community out-reach, eccumenical group of local Christian parishes that work together to share God's love. Holy Ghost Church is a proud participant of the annual Souper Bowl of Caring. Each year on Super Bowl Sunday, students of our ECF program bring in huge soup pots and gratefully accept cash donations and donations of canned food which are then given to the Bread Basket Food Bank, based in Scranton, PA and with a location directly across the street from us! The Bread Basket provides food those who need it, free of charge and no questions asked. The money and cans that we collect on Super Bowl Sunday are put directly toward feeding the hungry and homeless in our community! This year's collection was generous in much needed food items.
