Online Giving Moving to Parishes
We are so VERY GRATEFUL for the generous support shown to our parish family and friends, even during the pandemic. At this time, we are unable to accept contributions online so we are asking our parishioners to please mail your contributions to the Rectory Office at 313 First Avenue in Jessup, PA  18434 if you are unable or reluctant to attend Divine Liturgy in person.

Again, thank you for your generosity in supporting Holy Ghost and St. John's Parishes.

The Weekly Bulletin for Holy Ghost and St. John's Parishes:

Feb. 28, 2021
mar. 7, 2021

Sunday Divine Liturgies will continued to be live-streamed for the faithful of both parishes from Holy Ghost Church at 4 p.m. every Saturday afternoon. Even though the churches are open and the faithful may attend Liturgies by observing the proper precautions,  Liturgies will continue to be live-streamed and posted for those who are ill and/or for those who are not comfortable being in a gathering. Remember that the Bishop's dispensation for Liturgy is in place indefinitely at this time.

Please keep in mind that we are strictly following the Bishop's orders in re-opening our churches, including having the pews taped off to enforce social distancing. Only family members who live together will be allowed to sit together. Parishioners are REQUIRED to wear face masks that cover both the nose and mouth. These masks are to remain in place for the entire Liturgy, and are only to be taken down briefly to receive the Eucharist. Books have been removed as sources of high-touch surfaces, and the bathroom may be locked if we cannot sanitize it after each use so plan accordingly. Holy Communion will be distributed with single-use wooden spoons that will be buried or burned after Liturgy.

The Choir Lofts of both churches will only be used by the cantor (and his family at Holy Ghost) until further notice.  Singing out loud is discouraged but humming is allowed.

All Liturgies are being done in accordance with Eparchial, county, state, and federal guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Please be safe, be well, and stay home.

We also want to thank the parishioners of both parishes for their continued sacrificial and generous offerings in support of our churches, especially during the Covid-19 quarantine.

"If you think you are contagious, or think you are in danger, you are dispensed from any obligation to attend. Please stay home if you do not feel well."                                                                    ~ The Most Reverend Kurt Burnette, Bishop of Passaic, May 13, 2020

The Diocese has provided a list of Liturgies that are live streamed, including our own.
Access the list at LIVE STREAMED LITURGIES.

Eastern Catholic Formation/ECF:  Religious Education Classes

For enrichment activities, please visit byzimom.com.
Please contact our DRE, Joyce Covaleski or our pastor, Fr. John Cigan with any questions at holyghostjessup@yahoo.com.

Please take this obligation seriously and put your child's religious education BEFORE all other activities.  ECF not only teaches our children how to become closer to God through prayer, service, and knowledge, but it also teaches them what it is to be an Eastern Rite Catholic, and the beautiful traditions of the Byzantine Catholic Church. We welcome the opportunity to teach your child about his or her faith, and the ways of our beautiful Rite.

Jessup is located in Lackawanna County, just ten minutes from Scranton, Pennyslvania which is home to the Steamtown National Historic Park, the Steamtown Marathon (a qualifier for the Boston Marathon!), and two excellent Catholic schools of Higher Learning, the University of Scranton and Marywood University.  Jessup itself is home to the annual La Festa dei Ceri or the Race of the Saints known as St. Ubaldo Day.
